According to a particular news source, 73% of students regularly use their cellphones during class time to access social media. Based on classroom observations, a department head at a local community college believes more than 73% of students regularly use their cellphones during class time to access social media. She polls a simple random sample of 150 students, and 117 say they regularly use their cellphones during class to access social media. Test the department head’s claim using the results of the poll. Use a level of significance of α = 0.05.

  1. Set up your hypothesis
  2. State where the claim is located
  3. State the direction of the test (left, right or two tailed test)   
  4. Find test statistic   
  5. Find P-value by indicating the Excel command.   
  6. State your decision
