The consequences of incorrect sample loading on incorrect value of the melting point for solid sample :

If the sample is loaded more than 3 mm height of the capillary tube or else the melting point will be high practically. The sample should be loaded up to 2-3 mm height of capillary tube

The consequences of variable sample size on incorrect value of the melting point for solid sample :

When the sample is smaller in size then it would be too small to observe the melting point accurately.

When the sample is larger in size then it would be too high to observe the melting point accurately.

Hence the sample size should be in middle to observe the melting point accurately.

The consequences of rates of heating on incorrect value of the melting point for solid sample :

Rapid heating of a sample will observe the wider range of melting point of the sample because in thermometer mercury rises quickly and that takes time for the sample to melt and absorb heat.

Slow heating of a sample will observe narrow range of melting point of the sample

Heating rate of 1 to 2 degree Celsius per minute gives accurate results.
