Juvenile who are convicted of any serious offense given confinement facilities. Juvenile are kept different from adult criminals because the law want to ensure juveniles safety and want to ensure avoid negative impact on them. The purpose can be served by providing different care: -

1) Secure Detention Centers- Temporary care of juvenile who commited a delinquent act and need secure custody of such juvenile. The juvenile is detent in a place which is either surrounded by long walls, high fences or lock doors. So that he can't escape. The secure detention means that juvenile is held temporarily for shirt duration till the final hearing of court is not done.

2) Shelter care facilities - Shelter care are provided to juvenile when he/she can't return home or if they are waiting adjudication or children whose parents are refusing to supervision. Shelter care is temporary residence care given to juvenile.

3) Jails are formulated with a purpose to hold various criminal safely and securely often for short period until final hearings of the court. Mostly jails keep adults criminal but sometimes juvenile also keep in jail in case juvenile has committed serious offense.
