Answer #1

Sample proportion = 18 / 100 = 0.18

Test statistics

z = - p / sqrt ( p ( 1 - p) / n)

= 0.18 - 0.20 / sqrt( 0.20 * 0.80 / 100)

= -0.50

Administrators want to test the claim made by some faculty memebers that this proportion has fallen below the historical value of 60%. It is found that among a random sample of 120 of the school's students, 24 of them plan to go into general practice. At the 0.10 significance level, use the P-value method to test the research group's claim. Correctly state a) your conclusion about what to do with H0 AND b) your conclusion about the claim that is being made.
