I have shown here direction of revolution and coming of phases as well. To know where to see the moon, just go out, look at the direction of the sun. When you see full moon, it means earth sun and moon are aligned. You also need to understand that moon rises in the east and sets in the west every day. Suppose on the first day, you see a full moon rising in the east, you will see new moon after two weeks of this and the moon rise will start shifting towards west. As moon moves away from the sun, it starts becoming new moon.
