Assume the depth of salt water in a fishtank is 1.5 inches (recall that the inside diameter of the tank was 1.6 inches). If the salt concentration of the water is 0.06 wt% NaCl, compute the final salt water concentration after 2 cm3 of water with 1.5% wt NaCl is added to the fishtank. Assume the same amount of water that you add also leaves the through the overflow, where 82% of the water leaving is 0.06% wt NaCl and 18% of the water leaving is 1.5% wt NaCl.

Answer #1

as per given problem volume remain constant. so whatever water is added same amount of water comes out of the tank. To solve this problem we need to know final mass of solution and final mass of salt and then we use

%wt= (mass of solute/mass of solution)

mass of solution = density x volume of solution

People commonly dissolve table salt (NaCL) into water that they are heating up. a) If you had a pot with 4 quarts of water (before heating) and add 1 teaspoon of salt, which is equivalent to 6.20g, what is the boiling point of the water? How much of an effect will that have on cooking pasta? (You can assume that NaCl fully dissociates. 1quart=0.946 L and Kb=0.51oCkg/mol for water) b) Would the cooking of pasta (based on boiling point) be...

For the preparation and standardization of NaOH with KHP im supposed to boil water for 1hr and 30 min to remove CO2....the problem is that if I don't boil it for that long and (30 min) b/c of not enough time but I put the water I boiled for 1/2 hr aproximately into a NaOH bottle with a CO2 absorber and stored it there for a few days. I would assume that I would have to boil the water again...but...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...

Can you please explain in simple terms the methods of this experiment? I'm having difficulty visualizing and understanding what is being done. I have copied and pasted some of the text from the article. Thank you! Abstract : Obesity, high-fat diets, and subsequent type 2 diabetes (T2DM) are associated with cognitive impairment. Moreover, T2DM increases the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and leads to abnormal elevation of brain beta-amyloid levels, one of the hallmarks of AD. The psychoactive alkaloid caffeine...
