how do alligators fit the definition of keystone species?
Alligators are considered as keystone species . Because they maintain the balance between different species and ecosystem . Alligators maintain the fish populations number by attacking them , otherwise plant species may die out because of over consumption. They restrict the exponential growth of such species and maintain ecosystem balance .
Alligators also dig alligator holes which are considered as their house but it get converted to water and food source for the aquatic animals during drought. Moving few alligators from their ecosystem may causes huge negative changes . Thatswhy alligators are considered as keystone species.
What is a keystone species? How does the removal of a keystone species affect the number of species in a community? Why aren’t all species in a community considered keystone species?
1. What are keystone predators? Briefly describe how the species diversity (richness) in a community can be affected by keystone predators. (must included competitive exclusion principle)
25. Beavers act as A) dominant species B) keystone species C invasive species D) ecosystem engineers
Which of the following are characteristics of a keystone species? Multiple Choice Their presence dictates the survival of the entire community. They evoke a strong emotional response in people. They have a very large population. They are most often mammals. None of these are characteristics of keystone species.
SAAP HELP PLEASEEEESS A keystone species is a species that has a size would predict. impact on its community than its population the same as any other species lesser greater
B. Keystone species are species that have a very large impact on community structure and the food web if removed from the system. For example, the presence or absence of large herbivores can have an impact on snake abundance in African grasslands. McCauley & Young performed experiments in Kenya (1997-2006) where fences were constructed around plots to exclude elephants and zebras. After 8 years, snakes were counted; the results are shown in the accompanying graph. Please offer an explanation of...
How does microeconomics fit into this definition of Strategic Advocacy?
5. Which of the following is considered as a keystone species? Select one: O a. Wolf O b. Starfish O C. All of these d. Beaver
b. In the table below, name three elephant activities or functions that justify the term "keystone species" and describe how the activity changes African ecosystems. Elephant activityChange in ecosystem c. Why have elephant populations been declining for the past several decades?
V. (12 points)Alligators and crocodiles can sometimes be confused with each other, but how do their egg hatch rates compare? Define p1 as the proportion of alligator eggs that hatch and p2 as the proportion of crocodile eggs that hatch. Researchers observed a randomly chosen alligator's clutch with 45 eggs that had 35 eggs successfully hatch and a random crocodile's clutch with 40 eggs that had 21 eggs successfully hatch. (5 pts) 12. Assume the necessary conditions for inference have...
