Answer #1

1. Identify what you think is the overall purpose of this chapter.

The overall purpose of this chapter is to make us familiarize with the evolution of different forms of dance which started from the royal courts ages ago to theatrical dance around the world at present.

2. What interested you—what grabbed you, made you wonder, made you go, “hmmm……?”

The most interesting thing that grabbed me is the creative thought that existed in ancient times. The manifestation of this creative thought was not only expressive but was decent and elegant. In spite of absence of Technologies that we have today, art form in ancient times was evolved with finesse and peculiar specialities which varied from use of music to the costumes worn by the artists. The testimony of their level of evolution is the fact that they are still in existence and are practiced, for example- Bugaku and Ballet.

3. Create 1-2 questions—may be something you didn’t understand, a question you have an opinion about, or a possible class discussion or exam question.

Q- how costumes in dance act plays an important role?

Q- why dance performances were held in the courts that are regarded to be the place similar to the Parliament of today?
