Cyber crimes are those category of crimes which are done via internet and electronic devices like computer system. Cyber crimes are not limited to one segment of people but target different demographics like people doing cyber crime targets individuals who are non business people as well as business people like big companies for variety of purposes.

Cyber crimes which are targeting non business people involves Examples but are not limited to: social engineering, phishing, email harassment, cyberstalking and spreading illegal adult materials.

Cyber crimes targeting Business people or business corporations are like data breaches, cyber extortion and warez distribution, etc.

the great example of Cyber crime for non business people is use of "Ransonware". It is a type of malware from cryptovirology that threatens to publish the victim's data or perpetually block access to it unless a ransom is paid.

On 24 October 2017, some users in Russia and Ukraine reported a new ransomware attack, named "Bad Rabbit", which follows a similar pattern to WannaCry and Petya by encrypting the user's file tables and then demands a Bitcoin payment to decrypt them.

In September 2018, Facebook announced that an attack on its computer network exposed the personal data of over 50 million users. According to Facebook, hackers were able to gain access to the system by exploiting a vulnerability in the code used for the ‘View as’ feature.

Once this feature was exploited, the attackers were able to steal ‘access tokens’, which could be used to take over user’s accounts and gain access to other services. The breach also affected third party apps connected to Facebook, and as a precautionary measure, the company logged 90 million users out of their accounts and reset the access tokens.
