Answer #1

The answer is:

To separate these two compound based on their physical property

We have to do a solubility test of them in WATER.

between these two:

Na2CO3 will be soluble in water where as PbCl3 will not be soluble in water.By dissolving in water we can separate them.

Another test can be there colour.

Na2CO3 Is white where as PbCl3 is yellow. By identifying the color we can separate them.

I have a mixture of three compounds and I want to separate them. The compounds are ethyl aminobenzoate (50%), benzoin (40%), and 1,4-dibromobenzene(10%). I started the experiment by dissolving the mixture in the methylene chloride, then I added HCl, so I got two layers, first one is aqueous layer that contain ethyl aminobenzoate, and the second one is organic layer that contain benzoin and 1,4-dibromobenzene. After that I add NaOH to aqueous layer and I got a solid, then I...

I really need help with this chem lab question: Suppose you were given a mixture of iodine, potassium chloride and water to separate. Using what you know about the properties of these materials from other contexts, outline a procedure that could be used to do a quantitative separation of these three materials. Your procedure should be specific enough, that if followed, someone could determine the quantity of each of the three materials present in the mixture.

ORGANIC LAB: Separating a Mixture of two Unknowns, different acidity I have a mixture of two unknowns, both solids, in my Organic Chemistry lab. I have to separate them, then find out what each compound is.
