I really need help with this chem lab question:

Suppose you were given a mixture of iodine, potassium chloride and water to separate. Using what you know about the properties of these materials from other contexts, outline a procedure that could be used to do a quantitative separation of these three materials. Your procedure should be specific enough, that if followed, someone could determine the quantity of each of the three materials present in the mixture.

Given, mixture of Iodine, Potassium chloride, Water

Iodine is insoluble in water.

Potassium chloride is soluble in water.

So, the first step is filtration.

Filtration separates Iodine from the rest of the two compounds. The product (Iodine) obtained on the filter paper is dried. Thus, we can separate Iodine.

The second step is distillation.

Distillation separates KCl and water. The water reaches the boiling point during the process and the vapor thus formed is immediately condensed so that pure water is separated, and the KCl remains in the flask. Then KCl can be collected from the flask.

Thus, all the three compounds can be separated.
