Nail polishes are the mixtures of different compounds that are dissolved in a particular solvent to give it a desired consistency and texture.

The compounds include polymers (such as nitrocellucose) that stick to the nail as the solvent evaporates on applying the nail polish to the nail . The solvents used as ethyl acetate or butyl acetate.

Film modifiers such as adhesive polymer resins are also present in the nail polish which helps the compound to stick better to the nail.
