The era of internet has evolved and so has the world of virtual marketing. My biggest takeaway is the application of social media to this space of virtual marketing, besides the most concerning task called ‘job search’.

I believe, applying ethics in social media is the most challenging understanding about this course because of the level of complexities involved in it. Social media platform does not completely vouch for privacy and hence all the more concerning. However, gradually, I have certainly reached a point to understand it better.

I learnt that Ethics in Social Media marketing plays a very important role and rather forms the basis of this concept. What is ethically right and moral, could be implied in the advertisements of the social marketing thereby enhancing the gravity of this concept. It is such a concept used in the arena of marketing that attempts to create a favorable behavior in a consumers or to maintain the same in combination of the ideas of both, commercially viable marketing with that of the social sciences. This type of marketing is essential when the Company feels that their product could be positioned in the society as a ‘revolution or a change’ thereby impacting the social behavior that could benefit the society at large. Here, the primary motive is to understand the needs and requirements of the consumers regarding a product and then accordingly, place a marketing strategy that focuses upon the consumers instead of persuading them to buy.

I will utilize my learning to post my resumes on the social networking sites like LinkedIn. LinkedIn is highly professional social media tool that concentrates mainly on User’s work profile and CV that could be of use to the HR recruiters. I believe such networking sites do have the potential for helping manage one’s career but still there is a long way to go for such Professional social media websites as not all the job-seekers in the industry are equally comfortable with networking with the prospective employers. Such candidates prefer to go by the regular mode of job application i.e. application through job searching websites, newspaper advertisements, walk-in interviews, etc.

However, on the side of the recruiters, LinkedIn can form an important platform to perform the initial screening of the candidates based on their LinkedIn profiles. In fact, in many Companies, the recruiters do mention in the advertisement that the applicants are supposed to share their LinkedIn profiles for the screening process too because the format of LinkedIn resume is uniform thereby enabling faster screening process for the Resume and enables quicker checks if the same matches with their predetermined requirements for the vacancies so created. Supposing I have updated my resume on LinkedIn, giving detailed testimonials as references for the past experiences (although pertaining to mere internships and college activities, being a Fresher) such that it saves a considerable amount of time for the panelists from approaching the referred persons over a phone call, which otherwise, would had been the case with that of the traditional paper resume.

Hence in all these regards, networking sites are helpful in managing one’s career and I shall use my course learning to tap the same.

Besides this, following other have been three more learning from this course:

Three important lessons that I have learnt in R&D and Marketing are as under:

  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Importance of Green Marketing

I have learnt the importance of the customers in any business. Customers are those party that contract with your business by paying money for the services or the products availed from the Company’s end. Customers have a very significant role to play in Business. They are the very reason responsible for the success of any Business. The Business is an activity undertaken with the motive of profit. This profit could be generated in various ways but primarily, by serving the customers in the best possible manner such that they are not only retained in the Business but are the carriers of the ‘Good image’ to all other potential customers to the Organization. Therefore, customers need to be carefully dealt with and maintained. I have learned that I have a good inclination towards serving the customers and taking them in utmost priority. Therefore , in the days ahead, if I am to do business, I need to highly be focused upon ‘customer satisfaction’. For this, I have realized that CRM as a tool in customer satisfaction is important. It is the Customer Relations Management (CRM) tool that is used as an innovative approach that provides a detail data about the customer's needs and preferences, depending upon their age, gender and location, etc. Such an information helps an Organization to understand in those customers indeed are profitable or not and if not, what best can be done to convert them as content customers of the Organization. Customer satisfaction increases thereby leading to better earnings as these customers become more loyal towards the Organization's product and in most cases, also refer to others to avail the same. Reporting, Analyzing and Predicting are the three phases of CRM.

GREEN MARKETING:

I have consciously learnt the importance of Green Marketing. In order to preserve the earth from further damage environmentally, measures could now be undertaken to make and keep our world a safe and sustainable environment. One way to deal with the same would be to engage the employees to take steps to come up with alternative energy resources to control the deterioration of the planet any further and to implement the same in the system. In order to support this activity, one of the major remedy to the environmental issues concerning an Organization and implementing sustainability is the ‘Green Marketing’ concept. With more awareness that has been created in the recent ages across the planet about conservation of the planet by opting for Greener remedies, there has been a gradual development of the concept of ‘Green market’. The world has started gaining the advantage of the pollution-free environment to deal with the issues of Global warming. There has been a realizing factor of how a greener survival strategy in now the need of every business. Green marketing involves marketing of such products that do not cause any damage to the environment. Therefore, attempts are to be made by not only by the ‘Few we’ but also by all the we in the Organization to modify and innovate the products that incorporate the concept of ‘Green marketing’ and the same could be reached out to the consumers by way of influential social ad campaigns and other promotion techniques. The same could be put into practice by involving the employees in this activity.

Accordingly, the following two would be the major principles and applications of the sustainable tools that are to be to put in use to reduce the carbon in the atmosphere and to compel the public to rethink about the usage of renewable sources of energy and to deal with the waste management issues more effectively:

  1. There should be a need to provide a suitable background on the development, implementation and review of Sustainable tools in the field of construction and also its universal application to various other industries.
  2. Designing of a Sustainable Tool in the Planning Process with regards to the resources and waste management goals and obtaining various grounds for a deliberation in way of implementation of the sustainable tools and to provide a framework of evaluating the key performance indicators with regards to such an implementation and thereby help to suggest a process for the entire strategic review.
