One square mile equals 4,000,000,000 square inches. Using this information, how much does the entire atmosphere weigh? It will be easier to calculate teg weight of the entire atmosphere in scientific notations

We can calculate the weight of atmosphere by multiplying 14.7 pounds weight per square inch, with Earth surface area in square miles and then with, square inches.

So let's first convert data into scientific notations...

Surface area of Earth in miles = 197,000,000

Or. 19.7×10^7

Square inches in a mile = 4,000,000,000

Or 4×10^9

So weight of entire atmosphere of the earth is =

= (14.7) × (19.7×10^7) × (4×10^9)

= 1158.36× 10^16 pounds approximately.
