Explain why a favorable yield analysis alone is not a sufficient reason to select a surface water supply. Please only answer if you are certain. Thanks!

Surface water is more affected by seasonal variation and duration of drought occurring in that area.A constant flow is not observed in surface water, so before using surface water as an only source of water supply following analysis should be done

what is demand of water for supply?

Demand is getting fulfilled or not  or not for long duration?

For good balance always surface water flow should be greater than the demand . A complete yield analysis is done . If yield is favorable following points are also taken in consideration.

• .How much water is allowed for using in water supply . All water can not be withdrawn it has to be left up to certain amount for plants,animals and other organism for maintaining a good ecological system .
• Up to what extent that region is drought prone . What is the return period of the drought. A complete analysis should be done.
