A sociologist is interested in testing the hypothesis that “immigrants have more years of working experiences than the general population in the city of Albany.” A survey was carried out and information is given below: mean years of working experiences for immigrants=19.2 with standard deviation of 7.4 (and sample size=100), mean years of working experiences for the general population is 17.3. Assuming α=.05, follow 5-step model to conduct hypothesis testing. Clearly identify if this is one-tailed or two-tailed test. For two-tailed test, Z(critical)=1.96 and -1.96; one-tailed test, Z(critical)=1.65 or -1.65.

TRACTOR SKIDDING HYPOTHESIS TESTING Forest engineers are interested in studying the skidding distances of tractors along a new road in a European Forest. show all work. say a researcher is interested in testing the effectiveness of a new stress reduction method. She thinks, or predicts based on previous research, that the new method should reduce stress. one randonmly selected person (our subject) is trained in this method and his stress is measured (low values mean low stress). It is known that stress level of people in the general population has a mean of 40 and a standard deviation of 10. the score of...

stats Q1. Hypothesis testing using a Z test (14 points) A professor has been teaching introductory statistics for many years and the final exam performance (30 points total) has been very consistent from class to class and the scores have been normally distributed. Overall, the whole data base (i.e. population) of final exam scores has a mean (μ) of 20 points and a standard deviation (σ) of 5 points. Because 20 out of 30 is only about 67%, the professor...
