The difference between data memory and instruction memory is as follows:

1. Data memory:
   • ​​​​​​​The data memory is being executed when the CPU will run an instruction that will explicitly load or store the data to the memory.
   • When referring to data it means that the bits when the program is operating are distinct from the bits that are conveying the program itself.
   • The cost of the memory depends on the size of thrinstruction caches.
   • The data memory is being used while wirting and reading to the memory ehich can take upto 35% in SW and 50% in LW.
2. Instruction memory:
   • ​​​​​​​The instruction memory is when the CPU loads the bits of memory from the main memory.
   • In simple words when the CPU loads bits from the cache in which case it will be responsible of skipping the memory access completely.
   • The memory access can also be referred to the instruction fetch which will happen for the program counters getting a new value as the part of the instruction in the program.
