Answer - In my opinion the parents should be criminally liable if their child takes a gun from them and injures another person.
If the child is the minor then the parents will be liable for the criminal acts of the child. The responsibility of the parents was to keep the gun out of the reach of children. If the parents are not able to do so , they will be liable for his acts.
