“Designer Babies” - Do you think individuals should be allow to “design” a child? Does your opinion differ if the potential parents are “designing” a child in order to avoid genetic and heredity disorders that run in their family? With the use of in vitro fertilization designer babies can be made.

No I don't think individual should design their children because it may sometime causes embryo termination and some may use this method for superficial purposes.

But parents may use this method to avoid genetic disorders that run in family.It may saw the life of the child so it is good for using to treat heriditary diseases.

Ethical and legal isuuis.

Genetic engineering has its advantages and disadvantages .

Ethical issues are that the babies cannot give consent to the change, there will be change in the society as some may be designer babies who will have better looks and intelligence than non designer babies.

Gene pool may be effected and the changes may pass to their future changes.

Individual personality of a child will be taken away from them

In many countries designer babies are illegal and may only be done in strict conditions because they may cause disruption to the society.
