Pulmonary circulation Systemic circulation
  • Transport of blood between lungs and heart
  • Transport of CO2 produced in the body via heart to lungs and O2 from the respiratory organ/lungs to heart occurs in this circulation.
  • Consists of pulmonary artery to carry de-oxygenated blood and pulmonary veins to carry oxygenated blood from heart to lungs and lungs to heart respectively
  • It has low pressure of blood circulation as the blood has only to travel between heart and lungs
  • Transport or blood between heart and tissues and organs of the body
  • Transport of CO2 from tissues to heart and O2 from heart to tissues is done in this circulation.
  • Consists of aorta to carry oxygenated blood and superior and inferior vena-cava to carry de-oxygenated blood between heart and tissues.
  • It has high pressure of blood circulation as the blood has to travel between heart and lungs.
