  1. A model town with a population of 100000 people has a drinking water treatment plant. As an engineer, you are asked to design a sand filter system for the town. Determining: a) the total area of the filter, b) how many filter cells are needed if each filter cell has an area of 30 m2, c) depth of the sand, d) filtration rate, e) backwash rate if a rotary-jet-type surface wash is used, and f) the quantity of treated water used in backwash. Note: a) you need to fine a reasonable QDesign first; and 2) for backwash water quantity, you need to assume the min for the backwash first.
