Answer #1

The melt flow behaviour of thermoplastics like polypropylene nylon or polystyrene does effect the combustion of thermoplastics. Thermodynamics melt flow behaviour effects the dynamics of fire growth.

The ease of flow of molten thermoplastic polymer is called melt flow index of the polymer. It is measured as weight of polymers flowing in 10 minutes through a die of specific diameter and length by an applied pressure of some weight at a certain temperature.

Thermoplastics of high melt flow behaviour do not catch fire rapidly. That is because the past that has caught fire rapidly melts and leave the solid thermoplastic as the ease of flow is very high. So high melt flow index of thermoplastic slows down the dynamics of combustion growth and prevents thermoplastic from fire.
