Answer #1

Katie Bouton, 2015 discusses the significance of person-organizational fit while recruiting employees. According to SHRM sources, employee turnover due to improper organizational fit could cost the company around 60% of the annual salary of a person. This indicates the importance of organizational fit in selecting an employee to cut down on personnel costs and reducing employee turnover. The author cites another research study revealing that a person with a proper organizational fit (fit with organization, peers, supervisor, manager) had high levels of job satisfaction showing superior performance in the job and remain in the organization as loyal employees for a long time. In a collaborative work environment, a person with good team skills and communication with collaboration skills is likely to perform more compared to a tech-savvy candidate

Zilker, 2018 discuses the significance of person-organizational fit in the perspectives of job fit (candidate suited for the job role), cultural fit (person goal alignment with organization goals) and person-organizational fit (compatibility between person and organization). A study reveals that good person-organizational fit had a positive impact on employee productivity leading to high levels of job satisfaction (Zilker, 2018). Other benefits or significance of person-organizational fit include the development of happy employees, employees becoming company ambassadors, development of loyal employees, improved work quality, increased team member collaboration, higher employee retention rate, increased levels of contribution, more employee engagement and higher levels of commitment from employees
