This from Lab 5.1
Table 5-1: Methods for entering CMOS setup utilities by BIOS
BIOS |
Method for entering CMOS setup utility |
AMI BIOS |
Boot the computer, and then press the Delete key. |
Award BIOS |
Boot the computer, and then press the Delete key. |
Older Phoenix BIOS |
Boot the computer, and then press the Ctrl+Alt+Esc or Ctrl+Alt+S key combination. |
Newer Phoenix BIOS |
Boot the computer, and then press the F2 or F1 key. |
Dell Computers with Phoenix BIOS |
Boot the computer, and then press the Ctrl+Alt+Enter key combination. |
Some older Compaq computers, such as Deskpro 286 or 386 |
Plac e the diagnostics disk in the drive, reboot the system, and choose Computer Setup from the menu. |
Some newer Compaq computers, such as Prolinea, Deskpro, DeskproXL, Deskpro LE, or Presario |
Boot the computer, wait for two beeps, and when the cursor is in the upper-right corner of the screen, press the F10 key. |
All other older computers |
Use the setup program on the floppy disk that came with the PC. If the floppy disk is lost, contact the motherboard manufacturer to get a replacement. |
Note |
For Compaq computers, the CMOS setup program is stored on the hard drive in a small, non-DOS partition of about 3MB. If this partition becomes corrupted or the computer is an older model, you must run setup from a diagnostic disk. If you can’t run setup by pressing F10 at startup, a damaged partition or virus is likely taking up space in conventional memory. |
Now you’re ready to enter the CMOS setup utility included in your BIOS. Follow these steps:

Now that you’re familiar with the way the CMOS setup utility works, you can change the date and time settings. Then you reboot the computer, confirm that the changes are reflected in the operating system, and return the CMOS date and time to the correct settings. Follow these steps:

Verify again that the changes are reflected in Windows.

Playing a video game on a computer can give different experiences based on the performance capabilities of the computer’s hardware (typically processor and graphics card – among other things). Developers of a new game will typically have “recommended” specifications for the computer hardware that is required to run their games on a variety of graphics settings (the faster the hardware, the higher the graphics quality). You are being tasked to create a program that will tell a gamer what graphics...

You are going to be implementing the classic computer science simulation, Conway's Game of Life. Conway's Life is played on a matrix of cells, kind of like a chess board but theoretically extending infinitely in every direction. Each individual cell in the matrix can either be alive or dead. A live cell in the matrix is shown in our simulation by printing an asterisk (*) to the screen. A dead cell is shown by leaving that area of the matrix...
Use C++ For this week’s lab you will write a program to read a data file containing numerical values, one per line. The program should compute average of the numbers and also find the smallest and the largest value in the file. You may assume that the data file will have EXACTLY 100 integer values in it. Process all the values out of the data file. Show the average, smallest, largest, and the name of the data file in the...
