"The self-employed are more likely to live to a ripe old age than those who work for others"
Researches have proven that people who are self employed tend to
have more job satisfaction because they experience autonomy,
flexibility and utilization of skills in their work and also have a
greater job security. Having a self employed job is perceived to
have more engagement in work, increased control of work
environment, and freedom to innovate in the job. Many researches
and evidences have proven that people live longer when they
experience good emotional well being. A research on this estimated
that people who are happy had a 35% less risk of death when
compared to people who were unhappy. So, when people do the job
that they are satisfied with, they tend to feel more happy.
Hypothesis: People who are self-employed will live longer than the people who work for others.
Research design: Descriptive
Research method: Survey
This research hypothesis is tested by using a survey method, in which the samples are surveyed and the information regarding their age and type of work (self employed or working for others) are obtained. The samples consists of 1000 old age people who are selected by a process of probability sampling. The researcher then collects data from the samples and then evaluates the data. From the data, the researcher will conclude by comparing which group, whether the people who are self employed or the people who work for others have the highest average age. Based on these results, the hypothesis is accepted or rejected.
