Disparities exist among racial and ethnic groups with regard to their health. Non-Hispanic caucasians were more likely to be in very good or excellent health than were other groups nationally and in almost every state. Education appears to be an indicator of improved health in non-Hispanic caucasians than other groups. What is contributing to this disparity? What is the significance to healthcare administrators?

Answer #1

One of the most important factors for this health disparity is the accumulated disadvantage that they experience in terms of education, employment, housing, political participation etc. This is a cycle through which they shape their lives. When one has better education, one would have a better job and one would have a better lifestyle which would lead to healthy life and practices. Poverty and lack of education would lead people o engage in unhealthy practices thus, would affect their life choices and this would force them to unhealthy conditions. Healthcare administrators need to administer more awareness programs and focus group discussions on the importance of consuming healthy food, adopting healthy lifestyle and balancing the stress that they face.
