Disaster case taken for analysis : -

2011 and 2018 Tsunami in Japan.

In 2011 a 9 Richter Scale magnitude earthquake in the Pacific Ocean generated a massive Tsunami whose waves made huge destruction in the costal area of Japan. Fukushima nuclear power plant was completely destroyed and in 2014 Japan officially admitted that - 400 Tonnes of radioactive water was being added to Pacific Ocean every day.

This Tsunami took the life of approximately 16000 people and more that 250000 lost their homes.

Evaluation of disaster management system and coordination in 2018 Tsunami -

Japan had the bitter experience of 2011 Tsunami taking lives of more than 15000 people, in 2018 Tsunami warning systems worked as per expectations and the scope and expected reach of Tsunami waves was predicted well in time.

The warnings helped people move to higher places and vacate their houses well in time.

This prevented major risk of loss of life.

The tight coordination between various official and private institutions based on internet based communication helped the local bodies to take charge of the disaster management tasks.

The analysis of 2011 Tsunami showed that people couldn't reach high places due to fast speed tsunami and absence of advanced Tsunami warning system . In 2018 - respective authorities have given trainings to citizens about how to reach higher places with minimum luggage in very less time. This training and rehearsal helped reduce the damage to some extent.
