1 point) Three brothers play a game with a pair of fair (six-sided) dice. Consider a pay-to-play game which involves flipping a coin three (3) times. The payout for the game depends on the number of heads obtained in the three coin flips. Let the discrete random variable X represent the number of heads. a) What is the probability P{X = k} associated with each value k of the random variable? b) Suppose that the game has a payout of X^2 dollars. What is the minimum amount that should be charged for admittance (player...

(6(4 pts) A player (Joe) goes to a casino and plays a fair game. The player may wager any amount of money. There is a 0.5 probability of winning. If the player wins, then the player get twice the amount of the bet in winnings. If the player loses, the player gets nothing. Think of betting on a coin toss. If you win you double your money, if you lose you lose your money. This is a "fair" game because...

In a game called heads, a player tosses a coin three times. S/he wins N$300 if 3 heads occur, N$200 if 2 heads occur, and N$100 if 1 head occurs. On the other hand, S/he loses N$1500 if no head occurs. Let Y be a random variable denoting the player's gain (or loss). The coin is biased such that the probability of landing heads up is 2/3. a) Find the probability distribution of Y b) Hence, or otherwise, find the...
