Answer #1

For each beat of the heart, the peak of blood flow in the fingertips that occurs relative to the peak of the R wave is the R- pulse interval. The R-pulse interval corresponds to the interval between the peak of the R wave and the beginning of the peak of the pulse wave that is know to follow the R wave. It also corresponds to the amount of time that the blood takes to be ejected from the heart and then arrive at the fingertip. For every person, it is different.

In an average adult NSR is between 60 and 100 bpm. A heart rate below 60 bpm is called bradycardia. However, a highly acro bically conditioned persons often have a normal heart rate below 60 bpm. A heart rate above 100 bpm in an adult...

How does the density of wildebeests grazing on Panicum grasses change over time after the peak rain? a. Wildebeest density is relatively constant throughout the six months following the rain. b. Wildebeest density reaches its maximum one month after the rain but then decreases to nearly zero about three months after the rain. Six months after the rain, however, the density has increased slightly. c. Wildebeest density is very low for two months after the rain but then begins to...

You are studying the heart of a strange newly-discovered primate species. Its basic structure is like that of the human heart, but the timing of the wave of excitation which emanates from the SA-node and spreads throughout the atria and ventricles are quite different. The figure below shows the time of arrival of the wave at various points in the heart relative to its generation at the SA-node. Cardiac action potentials were recorded at different points in the atrial and...

In hemodynamics, blood flow through the cardiovascular system can be modeled as an electric circuit in which the blood serves as electricity, the blood vessels as resistive wires, and the heart as a battery (see Figure 1). Figure 1 Cardiovascular circuit model Ohm’s law states that the voltage drop ΔV across each element, the current I flowing through it, and its electrical resistance R are related by ΔV = IR. In a blood vessel, pressure difference between one vessel and...
