SPI:

SPI indicates which slave device to be accessed through the Slave Select(SS) .Slave select is used when multiple slave devices are present and we need to send data to a particular slave device.

When we are connecting to multiple devices each slave will have particular SS .So in order to connect with the particular slave device you should make the SS line of that particular slave device LOW and remaining HIGH.

I2C:

In I2C for every slave device there is a binary address associated with it.It has two lines SDA and SCL.When the master wants to communicate with the slave device the it switches the SDA line from high to low .

It contains a address frame which is 7 or 10 bit sequence unique address of a particular slave device which it wants to communicate.
