Answer- The following are the disadvantages of RTI for the use of SLD identification-

1. Cannot accurately distinguish between students with learning disabilities vs students or individuals who are "under-achievers"

2. Having said that, it can at times identify "slow learners" as students with learning disabilities.

3. The process does not include cognitive processing evaluation necessary to identify learning disabilities, it has a more generic approach.
