The director of research and development is testing a new medicine. She wants to know if there is evidence at the 0.01 level that the medicine relieves pain in more than 360 seconds. For a sample of 19 patients, the average time in which the medicine relieved pain was 368 seconds with a variance of 625. Assume the population distribution is approximately normal. Step 2: Find the P-value for the hypothesis test. Round your answer to four decimal places.

Answer #1

This is the two tailed test .

The null and alternative hypothesis is

H0 : = 360

Ha : > 360

Test statistic = t

= ( - ) / s / n

= (368 - 360) / 25 / 19

Test statistic = 1.395

df = 18

P-value = 0.0915
