Instructions

Lincoln Electric Company in Cleveland, Ohio, manufactures arc welding equipment. Lincoln has the highest paid workers in this extremely competitive market, and it is protected neither by patents nor by price supports. In spite of this, Lincoln Electric controls 40% of the arc welding market. How is this possible? Lincoln Electric outperforms its competitors in both quality and productivity. By way of comparison, Lincoln Electric has sales in excess of $167,000 per employee, while the industry average is $70,000 per employee.

This is accomplished by applying, in the age of high technology, the following leadership principles set forth by James F. Lincoln in 1895:

Viewing people as the company’s most valuable asset
Practicing Christian ethics
Making decisions based on principles
Observing simplicity in all things
Competing
Focusing on the customer
Compare these principles with the leadership principles explained in this chapter.

Autocratic Leadership, Democratic Leadership, Participative Leadership, Participative Leadership, Goal-Oriented Leadership, Situational Leadership

How are they similar or different?

A thorough response will define the concept of leadership, define the concepts of servant leadership and stewardship, and describe the most common leadership styles

Answer #1

As per then Chegg policy, I can answer one question among several others. I am explaining the first part of the question and I hope you will find the answers to other parts as well.

The leadership principles explained in the chapter are as follows:

  1. Aligning human resources of an organization with the vision.
  2. Providing a sense of direction to the employees by giving them knowledge of the organization's mission and goals.
  3. Communication of important information to the employees effectively and consistently.
  4. Empowering employees by giving them decision making authority, allowing them to think out of the box and provide suggestions if any.
  5. Training the employees and monitoring the work performed on a regular basis

Now, if we compare the above-explained principle with that of Lincoln Electric company, we saw that the principles are similar to those mentioned in the chapter that focuses on the human asset of the organization. These are similar as it explains the best leadership practices that can be used in an organization. if the organization value its human resources and consider them as the valuable asset then it will definitely motivate the employees and increase their productivity.

The answer framed above is accurate and the information is correct, complete and best in my knowledge. kindly like the answer if you find it useful.
