Why does the voltage of a battery go up sharply when it gets
close to being fully charged
and down sharply when it is close to fully discharged?
as we know all batteries have internal resistance.which is a function of the chemical components and number of cells inside the battery.and as we know the internal resistance of the battery is fixed and the lumped resistance may vary according to the parameter changes inside the battery.and this lumped resistance is in series with voltage source whose voltage is equal to open circuit terminal voltage of battery.if we call this Voc then the internal resistance is Rin then Ioc=Voc/Rin
therefore from ohms law V0c/Rt=Voc/Rin+Rl
Vdrop=Voc-Vl
Vdrop=
from the avalible equation the volatage is completely depens upon the the resistance across the battery .so as the battery is going dry the internal resistance goes high and the voltage comes down and when it is charging resistance decreses and the volage increase

A parallel plate capacitor with plate separation d is connected to a battery. The capacitor is fully charged to Coulombs and a voltage of V. (C is the capacitance and U is the stored energy.) Answer the following questions regarding the capacitor charged by a battery. For each statement below, select True or False. After being disconnected from the battery, inserting a dielectric with k will decrease C. With the capacitor connected to the battery, inserting a dielectric with k will increase...
A parallel plate capacitor with capacitance C0 is connected to a battery with voltage V0 and is charged fully to a charge Q0. There is an electric field E0 between the plates and energy U0 stored in the capacitor. With the battery still connected, the area of the plates are doubles and the plates are pulled to a distance three times its original distance (while still being small compared to the size of the plates). Find (in terms of the...
A parallel plate capacitor with plate separation d is connected to a battery. The capacitor is fully charged to Q Coulombs and a voltage of V. (C is the capacitance and U is the stored energy.) Answer the following questions regarding the capacitor charged by a battery. For each statement below, select True or False.With the capacitor connected to the battery, inserting a dielectric with κ will decrease C.After being disconnected from the battery, inserting a dielectric with κ will...
A certain fully-charged 9.0 V battery can provide a total of 6500 C to a circuit. How much energy does the battery store when fully charged? (Note that the battery can store the amount of energy equal to the amount of total work it can do in pushing all of that charge through the entire voltage landscape of the circuit.)
A smartphone battery is capable of delivering a constant current of 2.7A for 16h when fully charged. If the voltage across the terminals of the battery is 6e^(-3.2t)V , where t is in seconds, how much energy is associated with the battery?
QUESTION 5 A capacitor is fully charged by a battery. When the capacitor is still connected to the battery, the distance between the two plates decreases. (a) voltage across the capacitor (b) capacitance (c) charge stored in the capacitor (d) electric field between the two plates (e) electric potential energy stored in the capacitor QUESTION 6 A capacitor is fully charged by a battery. When the capacitor is...
Why is the output phase voltage not equal to the internal generated voltage when there is an armature current flowing through the armature? Also why does an alternator’s voltage drop when it is loaded down with a lagging load and rises when loaded with a leading load. Explain in paragraph form.
You have a 2.0-uF capacitor and a 9.0-V battery: 2a. If initially uncharged, how long does it take to charge the capacitor to 80% of its maximum voltage through a 1.5-M2 resistor? Assume its maximum voltage is the same as the battery. 2b. If initially fully charged, how long would it take to discharge the capacitor to 30% of its maximum voltage through a 2.4-MΩ resistor?
1. Why does the direction of rotation change when the battery is reversed in the homopolar motor? a. When the battery is reversed, the direction of the current changes. b. When the battery is reversed, there is no longer a net torque on the magnet and screw. c. When the battery is reversed, the orientation of the magnetic field is also reversed.
