The amount of heat required to melt 1 g of solid ice to liquid water at the normal melting point of ice, i.e, 0ºC is defined as qfus and the numerical value of the same is 80 cal/g.

Therefore, the amount of heat energy required to melt 30 g of solid ice at its normal melting point of 0ºC = (mass of ice)*qfus

= (30 g)*(80 cal/g)

= 2400 cal (ans).
