Network efficiency is key component to a business success.Network efficiency is a measure of how efficiently exchanges information.

The network performance is based on network efficiency. When the network efficiency is good the network performance is high. To improve the network efficiency some of the tradeoffs are necessary. Many applications are running on a network which exchanges data, transfer the data ,collects the data etc..So the implementation of good throughput for one application may cause delay problems for another application.

Throughput is the quantity of error free data that is transmitted per unit of time that can be measured in bps or packets per second. If the throughput is effected the network efficiency is less. Some of the factors that effect the throughput are :

  • The size of packets
  • Distance
  • Protocols
  • Network design
  • Inter-frame gaps between packets

To improve the network efficiency send larger packets to get better network efficiency but if too large packets are send the data is lost if the packet is damaged. If smaller packets are send there is less efficiency. In some cases it is vice versa due to too much large data.

While sending data or information in form of packets need a checking if there are any errors because if there are errors the packet is returned which causes delay problems. To improve the network efficiency the network design is most important to run the network. It is better to make wired connection to increase the speed of network and invests on the higher bandwidth of a network.

For example, if we want to send larger data files to other user it may takes more time to send all files at a time. Here the network efficiency is less because too much data is sending which cause delay problems. If larger data files divided into a small files it is easy to send because smaller data files can send within time and easily which improves the network efficiency.
