Answer #1

a)

Inequality will increase when demand will exceed supply. This will lead to a situation of shortage in the economy, leading to inequality. Not all are able to get what they wish to buy or demand.

b)

Inequality will decrease when supply will exceed demand. This will lead to a situation of surplus in the economy, leading to increased equality. Everyone gets what they demand.

Lets spend a minute to discuss how technological growth affects inequality. Please briefly answer the following thinking about supply and demand: In the market for low-skill manual labor, an increase in technology and automation will cause Demand decrease (shift left) leading to a(n) increase in price (wages) and a(n) decrease quantity (employment). In the market for high-skill labor, an increase in technology (a complement to skilled labor) will cause supply to increase leading to a(n) increase - in price (wages)...

Consider the market for wheat. The following graph shows the weekly demand for wheat and the weekly supply of wheat. Suppose new farming technology is developed that enables growers to produce more crops with the same resources. Show the effect this shock has on the market for wheat by shifting the demand curve, supply curve, or both. Note: Select and drag one or both of the curves to the desired position. Curves will snap into position, so if you try to move...

Assume that there is both a demand side and supply side change in the market for apples. On the demand side, the price of bananas decreases. Bananas and apples are substitutes. On the supply side, there is a technological advance in apple production. What happens to equilibrium price and quantity. a the equilibrium price of apples rises, and the equilibrium quantity of apples falls b. the equilibrium price of apples rises, and the equilibrium quantity of apples rises. c. the equilibrium price of...

In the supply & demand model of a market, we predict changes in the equilibrium price and equilibrium quantity of a product associated with changes in the non-price determinants of either supply or demand. On a graph, when there is a change in a non-price determinant of demand, then we show the demand curve shifting to the right or left, depending on whether demand is increasing or decreasing. Similarly, when there is a change in a non-price determinant of supply,...

Ignoring any supply−side effects, suppose the government is considering cutting taxes by $100 billion or increasing government expenditures on goods and services by $100 billion. Then A. the tax cut would increase aggregate demand and the increase in government expenditure would decrease aggregate demand. B. both policies would increase aggregate demand but the increase in government expenditure has a smaller effect. C. both policies would increase aggregate demand by the same amount. D. both policies would increase aggregate demand but...

Q11 - Draw hypothetical supply and demand curves for tea. For each of the following examples either supply or demand will be affected. In each example say whether supply or demand is affected, and how they are affected, meaning are they increased or decreased. Once you identify which curve changes and how it changes, explain or describe how the equilibrium price and equilibrium quantity will be affected. Example: Consumers have more income and tea is a normal good. (This is...
