A transmission system over a digital subscriber line alternates time on channel between the two directions of transmission. Packets of 50 microseconds duration are generated every 125 microseconds at both ends of the line. Assume the propagation speed is one-third the speed of light.

a) Determine the maximum local loop length

Now assume the propagation delay end-to-end is 35 microseconds and the turn-around time from receiving to transmitting or vice versa is 65 microseconds.

b) Find the required transmission speed on the line to achieve full duplex transmission.
