Indianapolis Colts wanted to take Peyton Manning back after he recovers and including the aspect of his health undertainty in his contract . Opportunity cost is defined as the next best alternative forgone . Colts did this to avoid public rage and also put their investments in better place . The opportunity cost of hiring Manning with such a health problem was high because he will not settle down for a very low wage . Other young quarterbacks would be better choice .
