Suppose you randomly packed rods instead of spheres in a cylindrical container. Would you expect the maximum packing efficiency to be the same as the one calculated for the spheres? Briefly explain.

If we used rods instead of spheres in a cylindrical container then the maximum packing efficiency will increase.

In case of spheres the presence of void will be more but in the case of rods the voids will be much lesser as rods resemble the shape of cylinder. So packing efficiency is increased in case of rods.
