Please provide the mechanism for the reaction of isopentyl alcohol with acetic anhydride to form isopentyl...
For esterification (synthesis of isopentyl acetate), which can form an alkene in strongly acidic conditions? Please explain why/the process of it becoming an alkene. a) acetic acid b) acetic anhydride c) water d) isopentyl acetate e) isopentyl alcohol
If the yield from the reaction of acetic acid with isopentyl alcohol is 45%, how many grams of isopentyl acetate are formed from 3.58 g of acetic acid and 4.70 g of isopentyl alcohol? The reaction is: CH3CO2H+C5H12O→C7H14O2+H2O Express your answer using two significant figures.
If 4.46 g of acetic acid and 2.19 g of isopentyl alcohol are used in the reaction, what is the limiting reagent? What is the theoretical yield? What is the percent yield if 2.50 g of isopentyl acetate are obtained? (please show all calculations!!!)

convert grams acetic acid to mole acetic acid then to mole isopentyl acetate then to grams isopentyl acetate and convert grams isopentyl alcohol to mole isopentyl alcohol then to mole isopentyl acetate then to grans isopentyl acetate. grams acetic acid mole ratio 1:1 for everything 130.18 isopentyl acetate mass 88.148 isopentyl alcohol mass
1. The reaction mixture contains isopentyl acetate, isopentyl alcohol, water, acetic acid and sulfuric acid. a) Why is the reaction mixture extracted with sodium bicarbonate? In other words, what two substances does sodium bicarbonate react with in the reaction mixture and why are these reactions useful? (4 pts) b) Write a balanced chemical equation for each reaction involving sodium bicarbonate. c) When the reaction mixture is extracted with sodium bicarbonate solution, what substances will be in the aqueous layer? What...
In this experiment, we did a Fischer Esterification using excess acetic acid, isopentyl alcohol, and sulfuric acid to form isopentyl acetate. Then sodium bicarbonate and NaCl were used in the extraction step of the experiment. Is there another method we could have used to calculate percent yield other than using the amount of isopentyl acetate? What are the advantages and disadvantages? (Using GC is not the answer we are looking for.)
