The fair Lady used TNT (C7H5N3O6) to help the London Bridge fall. She wanted to use the broken bridge pieces to build play castles for her children, each of which requires 35 bridge pieces. Assume that TNT undergoes combustion* resulting in the production of NO in addition to the normal combustion products. If the London Bridge breaks into 25 times more pieces than the number of oxygen molecules in the balance combustion reaction, how many completed play castles could she build?

Answer #1

Balanced equation for the combustion of TNT as mentioned in the question is as follows:

4C7H5N3O6 + 21O2 28CO2 + 10H2O + 3N2 + 6NO

Given that each play castle requires 35 bridge pieces.

Also, the bridge breaks into 25 times more pieces that the number of oxygen molecules in the balance combustion reaction

i. e. 25* 21= 525 pieces

525 pieces will help build 525/35= 15 castles

Answer: The fail lady can build 15 complete play castles.
