a. Expatriates or Home-Country Nationals? When would an organization use an expatriate or home-country national?

Expat or HCN is the person/employee who has the citizenship of a country where the main HQ of parent company is located. for example- Amazon sent a US employee to China subsidiary then US employee is HCN or expatriate.

Organization uses an expat or HCN when organization has standardized or global policies and require employees who know them well around so they can send such employees to foreign assignments. second when there restrictive rules like confidentiality of business process and privacy then they prefer HCN .

b. Host-country nationals?When would an organization use a host-country national?

Host country Nationl is the employee who is the citizen of a country other than the parent company's country. for example- Amazon hire employee of INDIA for its subsidiary in India to manage that facility then Indian Manager is Host country National.

Organization chooses this type of employees when company think that local culture, customer preference and norms can have significant impact on business like Mcdonalds hire Indian employees in its franchise in India.

second organization hire host country national because they have legal knowledge which is also important.

Immigration rules also important factor to consider by companies to hire host country nationals.

cThird-country nationals?When would an organization use a third-country national?

Third Country nationals are those employees of MNC or global company which are from different countries . for example- An American Company hired Asian employee in subsidiary situated in Australia.so Asian employee is TCN.

Company hire TCN when they are need of qualified employee who can manage their business very well even if they are from different culture or country.
