Answer #1

Answer: Though ideally the leaders should not demonstrate emotions by acts like ranting, swearing or crying but in some circumstances I feel that it is not only acceptable but required. These occasions are the incidences that have resulted either in national rage or remorse. For example the incident of 9/11 was an occasion where the entire nation was furious and appalled and at this time acts like ranting and swearing and even crying by the leaders was acceptable as a way to show their solidarity with the nation. In such circumstances the leaders are required to show their emotions as a way of bonding with the masses.  But this should not be used as an election gimmick.

At the same time, it’s not entirely clear that we’ve reached a point where people feel comfortable expressing all emotions at work. The reason might be that business culture and etiquette remain poorly suited to handling overt emotional displays. The question is, can organizations become more intelligent about emotional management? Is it ever appropriate to yell, laugh, or cry at work? Some people...
