Starbucks' offers a wide arrangement of products, with a focus around coffee. As per their website, their product line includes, "coffee, handcrafted beverages, merchandise, fresh food," and consumer products that are typically found in grocery stores, such as K-cups, ground coffee, tea, and bottled beverages (Starbucks, n.d.). Technically the food isn't "fresh". We defrost all of the pastries and baked goods, however, the bistro boxes and cold lunch sandwiches are sent to us fresh. Starbucks also offers a lot of merchandise products in its stores, especially their new Ember mugs that allow you to use your phone to heat your mug and keep your beverage warmer longer. Starbucks' structure is pretty typical in comparison to other organizations. There are the baristas that are down on the bottom of the structure. Then the next step up are the shift supervisors, followed by the assistant manager, then the manager, then the district manager, then the regional manager, and then finally, corporate. Starbucks' corporate structure is considered to be a matrix structure, with CEO, Kevin Johnson, being at the top, but being overlooked by the company's board of directors. Underneath the CEO are various presidents, and CEOs of regional global markets that Starbucks participates in.
