You are studying three linked genes in snapdragons. The flower color locus is in the center. There are 12.7 cM between the flower color locus and the plant height locus. There are 11.5 cM between the flower color locus and the leaf type locus. The coefficient of coincidence is 0.8. Pure-breeding tall, red-flowered plants with fuzzy leaves were crossed to pure-breeding dwarf, blue-flowered plants with smooth leaves. The F1 were testcrossed. Calculate the proportion of the testcross progeny that are expected to have blue flowers and smooth leaves. Round properly to 4 decimal digits.

A horticulturist sought to test the hypothesis that flower bolor in the plant blue-eyed Mary Collins parviflorais controlled by a single gone locus where paired alles have a dominant-recessive relationship. The horticulturist crossed two plants that produced flowers of different colors, white and magenta, which he believed were true breeding The horticulturist observed that all of the plants resulting from his cross produced blue flowers. When the horticulturist crossed the F1 plants with each other he obtained the following F2...

    2. You carry out a dihybrid cross in sweet peas where you examine the flower color locus (use symbols based on "P" for this gene) and blooming time locus (use symbols based on "L" for this gene). You cross a true breeding purple- flowering, early blooming plant to a true breeding red-flowering, late blooming plant. The F1 plants are all purple- flowering and late blooming. The F1 plants were subsequently used in a testcross. The flower color locus and the...

You are doing and experiment on inbreeding in Phlox plants with a single-locus polymorphism in flower color. WW genotypes have white flowers, PP genotypes have purple flowers, and WP genotypes have magenta flowers. You construct an artificial population in the greenhouse consisting of 50 white-flowered phenotypes and 50 purple-flowered phenotypes. You then cross all individuals randomly and grow out 100 F1 seeds. What are the genotype frequencies among the F1 offspring if you assume Hardy Weinberg equilibrium?

In a different plant species, flower color is controlled by two genes that contribute equally to the final flower color. Plants with red flowers have the genotype: CRCR DRDR, while plants with white flowers have the genotype: CWCW DWDW. A red flowering plant was mated to a white flowering plant and all of the F1progeny had pink flowers. These pink flowered F1 plants were allowed to self-fertilize to produce F2progeny. What is the genotype of the F1 plants that produced...

Question 2 Genes a and b are linked, with 20% recombination frequency. Two pure breeding strains (the parental cross) were crossed. The F1 was then testcrossed. a+b-/a-b+ x a-b-/a-b- What were the parental strains genotypes? b. What would be the genotypes and the probability of each, among progeny of the testcross? Example: a+b+/a-b- 45% c. Is this an example of cis- or trans-linkage?

Could you please explain using Punnett squares? Thanks!! 9. In snapdragons, red flower color is incompletely dominant to white and the heterozygote is pink. Normal broad leaves is incompletely dominant to narrow grass-like ones, and the heterozygous is intermediate width. IF a red-flowered, broad-leaved plant is crossed with a white-flowered, narrow-leafed one, list genotypic and phenotypic ratios of the following: a) Fi generation b) F2 generation 10. In humans, the allele for brown eyes (B) is dominant to the allele...

In the tomato, three genes are linked on the same chromosome. Tall is dominant to dwarf, fruit skin that is smooth is dominant to skin that is peachy, and fruit with a normal tomato shape is dominant to oblate shape. A plant that is true-breeding for dominant traits was crossed to a dwarf plant with peachy, oblate fruit. The F1 plants were then test crossed to dwarf plants with peachy, oblate fruit. The following results are obtained. 200 tall, smooth,...
