The discovery of the Americas and its colonization were spurred by many factors in Europe. What were 2 of those factors that helped push Europeans to explore the world, and ultimately colonize the Americas? How did this impact populations already existent in the "new world'?

Europe was becoming more populated and Europe had already been affected by Black Death which killed most of the Europeans. The cities were becoming overcrowded and poverty held more people. So, people were lured to cross the Atlantic with a hope of living in a country which would provide all the opportunity for prosperity. Second reason was religious oppression. Christianity held its upper hand on ordinary people but helped the rich and the powerful. These ordinary people were given a hope that they could lead a life without any religious oppression. People who were already in the New World were driven to the interior lands and all the fertile lands were taken by the settlers. People who were already in the New World lost their lands, traditions, culture etc.
