To generate the supernatants that you used to measure a_635, you had to centrifuge the samples to remove the solid. If you did not centrifuge the samples properly, what impact would that have on the measured a635 and on the [cu2+] that you would calculate?

Answer #1

Before measuring the absorbance we should centrifuge the samples and remove the solids it is very much important as we are measuring absorbance means how much light the compound is absorbing at particular wavelength so if we do not centrifuge the sample then there are more chances of getting solid particles into the sample and due to which the solution becomes some what turbid or we can say it will become a colloidal solution and due to which it obviously affect the absorbance as well as concentration also solid particles also block the wavelength so that also affects the possible outcomes of the concentration as well as absorbance values.

Please help with BOTH parts [4] A centrifuge is used to separate solid blood cells from liquid blood plasma. The solid cells collect on the walls of a chamber of radius re = 8 cm which is spinning 350 times per second. The moment of inertia of the centrifuge (including the blood) is I = 1.2 kg m. (a) What is the normal force exerted by the chamber wall on one gram of blood cells? (b) If the centrifuge is...

We saw in Example 5.7 how a centrifuge can be used to separate cells from a liquid. To increase the speed at which objects can be separated from solution, it is useful to make the centrifuge’s speed as large as possible. If you want to design a centrifuge of diameter 70 cm to have a force of 5 X106 times the force of Earth’s gravity, what is the speed (in rev/s) of the outer edge of the centrifuge? Such a...

16.5. It was noted in Experimental Details that it is possible to measure a by measuring the transmission of two different samples of different thicknesses that have identical reflectivities. Describe the experimental setup you would use to carry out the measurements, what you would measure, and how you would extract a from the results you obtain. Why is it important that the two samples have the same reflectivity? 16.5. It was noted in Experimental Details that it is possible to...

Cost per Lead is a measure of the costs for generating new customers. Cost per lead, or CPL, is a marketing metric based on the average cost for generating a sales lead. It is commonly used to measure the effectiveness of promotions. In some cases, firms purchase leads at a cost per lead or run digital advertising campaigns based on cost per lead pricing. Formula: Average cost per lead = total money spent on marketing campaign/ total leads generated There...

A salad spinner is used to dry lettuce that has been recently washed. (If you are unfamiliar with salad spinners and how they operate, check out this video.) For the salad spinners to operate properly, the lettuce should be evenly distributed in the basket of the salad spinner. Otherwise, after you spin the basket and remove your hand, the salad spinner will wobble and slip on the kitchen counter. You’re curious how unbalanced your salad spinner can be before it...
