This is a question of mass balance. The key is that some gas (bubbling) was lost, explaining the mass difference.

The equation is:

mass starting materials = mass products

So,

18.00 g CaCO3 + 72.90 g solution = 83.52 g solution + mass gas

90.90 g = 83.52 + mass gas

mass gas = 90.90 - 83.52 = 7.38.

Thus, 7.38 grams of gas were produced in this reaction.
