No. In the first part of the experiment, the combination reaction between zinc and iodine occurs. Here, the zinc metal was initially in zero oxidation state which then oxidized to +2 state. But iodine was initially in 0 oxidation state which is reduced to -1 state in the same reaction.

In the second part of the experiment, the decomposition reaction of zinc iodide is described. Here zinc was initially in +2 oxidation state and it is reduced to zero oxidation state. However, iodine in zinc iodide was initially in -1 oxidation state. It is oxidized to zero oxidation state.

So, in the first and second parts, different species are oxidized.
